Q and A segment with Junior
Q1. Can you share the story behind your artistic journey? What led you to pursue art, and how has your style evolved over time?
I'm a self-taught Artist. I started my artistic journey when I was in high school. I offered visual art, which aided me to lay my foundation in art. I started doing portrait art for commissions, by using some mediums like paint, graphite, charcoal, pen etc. What led me to pursue art was the love and passion I had for art. My style has evolved since I was introduced to drawing using soldering iron in high school. This experience gave me the idea to discover how to use fire to draw.
Q2. What are some of the main sources of inspiration for your work? Are there any particular artists or movements that have influenced your artistic approach?
The main sources of inspiration for my work are my personal experiences, emotions, mood, and my sentiment toward how I see things and understand them. My art is influenced by nature, the movement of people around me, how they behave and talk, and also issues that occur in vicinities.

Q3. How do you approach the process of creating a new piece or body of work? Do you have any rituals or routines that help you get into the creative mindset?
My approach to creating my art or any new piece is self-discipline. I also make sure I get peace of mind. This is the routine that helps me to create.
Q4. What techniques or mediums do you primarily use in your creations, and why do you find them particularly suited to expressing your ideas?
The technique I use in my creation is called pyrography. Pyrography means writing with soldering iron or fire but I practically have an approach to it, whereby I use the fire with a blade to form art on heavy chipboard or wood in the form of burnt marks. I love this technique because of the earth color it gives me and its uniqueness.
Q5. What role do you believe art plays in society, and what do you hope your art contributes or communicates to the wider world?
The roles I believe art plays in society are that it keeps historical records, educates, and preserve cultures. I see my art contributing by giving power to powerless minds who lack the confidence to speak about sensitive issues.

Q6. Do you have a favorite piece or project that you've worked on? What makes it special to you, and what was the inspiration behind it?
Childhood Bathing is my favorite piece. What makes it special to me is the story of a young child learning to take care of himself by bathing himself. This simple story teaches me a valuable lesson: that nothing starts big. Everything starts small and grows into something bigger.
This signifies that no matter how small you are or how small your beginnings are, you should never underestimate your potential. You should appreciate the small things because they are the foundation upon which great things are built. This piece also teaches me to never give up on my dreams. Just because something seems difficult or impossible now doesn't mean it will always be that way. The inspiration behind it is not to underestimate little things.

I will be organizing an exhibition, where I will be doing live drawings with fire, which will feature conceptual works created over the course of at least one week. I will also be having a solo exhibition in Ghana in August.
