Artist Statement
The word Nkonsonkonson is a Ghanaian local mother tongue which means strength. I dedicate this piece to appreciate Good Men and the strength of Men. I look around me and realise most of materialistic things which helps and has made life comfortable in some ways has been invented by men. Men have been the provider, pillars in societies and family. thats the strength of man. in this piece there is a symbol hook with chain, this symbol is one of the ADINKRA symbols which was invented among some chiefs in the olden days for communication in Ghana. This symbol is call Nkonsonkonson which means STRENGTH and POWER. the broken chains represent the power it takes of a man to set freedom and being able to solve problems instead of complaining about the problems. there are two figures in this piece where the back figure is serving us blockage to the from one. the front figure stand as man and the back figure represent the predicament that comes towards men in life, but with the strength of man he is able to set free and solve all this predicaments. The strength of a man is power to empower. The broken chains represent the freedom and solutions serve by the strength of a man.
