Identity
$8,000.00
Identity is an evocative celebration of African womanhood, dignity, and cultural belonging. Set against a stark, deep black void, a serene female subject clutches a rich, ochre-and-crimson patterned cloth to her chest. Her gaze drifts pensively off-canvas, capturing a moment of introspective contemplation. The textile functions as a symbol of ancestral legacy, protection, and cultural pride, making this artwork an arresting centerpiece for contemporary collections celebrating Black figurative empowerment.

Artist Statement
Through mixed media, textile, and pyrography, my practice examines the intersections of gender, bodily autonomy, and queer identity within contemporary African landscapes. By confronting cultural taboos and reclaiming silence, I construct tender, resilient portraits that archive safe spaces and celebrate vulnerability, intimacy, and the unyielding power of self-definition.
