Expectation
$11,500.00
Expectation is an intimate, observational study of market women suspended between patience and economic necessity. Rendered in delicate, tonal graphite cross-hatching, the market stall recedes into monochromatic stillness. This singular use of vivid color pulls the subject out of passive struggle into radiant, dignified individuality, exploring the quiet resilience and emotional burden carried by women who anchor the informal economy.

Artist Statement
Rooted in my sculptural background, my practice harnesses the raw, tactile authenticity of charred wood charcoal to interrogate contemporary African identity, resilience, and communal life. Through deliberate contrasts of shadow and texture, I capture the emotional pulse of everyday realities, preserving cultural heritage while illuminating enduring human hope.
